Students perform as part of All-State Music Ensembles

Sixteen Springfield Public Schools students were honored as members of the Missouri All-State Music Ensembles during the Missouri Music Education Association’s 88th annual conference Jan. 27-31.

All State Choir members from SPS:

  • Issac Henderson, Kickapoo
  • Charissa Moser, Kickapoo
  • Lynn Powell, Glendale

All State Band members from SPS:

  • Maddox Bankhead, Kickapoo
  • Chase Brodeur, Central
  • Madeline O’Toole, Central
  • Grace Park, Central
  • Danny Stewart, Kickapoo
  • Rylan Thompson, Central
  • Christopher Upshaw, Kickapoo

All State Orchestra members from SPS: 

  • Roman Bunn, Kickapoo
  • Madison Gong, Central
  • Moses Pavon, Parkview
  • Sophy Wickham-Zhou, Central
  • Jocleyn Ybarra, Glendale

The following students deserve special recognition as alternates or having received an honorable mention:

In addition to all the students in the All-State ensembles, Kickapoo High School was widely recognized at the conference. The school’s orchestra, led by Annie Honeycutt, was invited to perform. Kickapoo Choir Director Dr. Nathan Cornelius and Kickapoo Band Director Aaron Scriven were also invited to present music education sessions to packed rooms of more than 200 Missouri music teachers.
